Social media darling, Christopher Griffin who is affectionately known as the Plant Kween, brings their horticultural expertise, energetic personality, and message of inclusivity to West Elm this Summer season

May 16, 2022 [Brooklyn, NY]- Global design company, West Elm, expands its gardening portfolio with the launch of Plant Kween x West Elm. Designed in partnership with Christopher Griffin, aka the Plant Kween, the 12-piece capsule collection marries function with style. The planters and propagation systems were thoughtfully developed with efficacy in mind, ensuring that the vessels offer favorable conditions for all gardening needs. Outfitted in aesthetically pleasing terracotta, burnt umber, white, and vibrant green hues, the collection retails for $29.00-$59.00 and is available for purchase at

Plant Kween (they/she/he) views gardening as a metaphor for “How we treat ourselves, how we treat others, and how we navigate the world”. They have built a highly engaged and enthusiastic audience on social media with insightful commentary on planting techniques, as well as ideology around inclusion, advocacy, and visibility. The partnership champions representation and diversity; values that both Plant Kween and West Elm are proud to amplify.

Plant Kween states, “Dahling, get into the lushness that is Plant Kween x West Elm! This lovely collection is a fusion of so many things that I love and adore: terracotta, bold and fun shapes, rich colors, monochromatic chicness, and intentional designs that will have your indoor garden serving viridescent vibes. I am super excited to be entering the home space with West Elm and overjoyed that this creative and collaborative partnership has birthed such botanical beauties.”

Christopher Griffin (they/she/he pronouns) was born and raised in West Philadelphia, and is currently based in Brooklyn, New York, where they work as the Assistant Director of the NYU LGBTQ+ Center and care for over 200 green gurls in their lil’ Brooklyn oasis of an apartment. Being an educator at heart, Christopher started their Instagram account (@plantkween) in 2016 as a way to share many lessons, verdant adventures, and simple joys that come with being a plant parent. Their social media presence has been rooted in a journey of self-care, joy-sharing and community building all through the wonders of those little green creatures we call plants. As a Black queer nonbinary femme, Christopher enjoys exploring creative and accessible ways to use plants as a vehicle to incite further conversations centering on Black joy and resilience, LGTBQ+ advocacy and the need to increase visibility, representation, and empowerment of QTPOC (Queer and Trans People of Color) in the lush world of horticulture. Their aspirations are to continue to serve lush lewks and new growth realness right along-side their green gurls, have fun with it all, and bring folks along for the wild botanical ride.
